The Eternal Castle Town"Matsushiro"
 
There are a lot of ruins in Matsushiro from ancient times to the present such as The Omuro Old Tomb Group (Omuro Cairns and Burial Mounds), the Samurai houses, and Underground Imperial Headquarters.
Matsushiro is a historical town related to the events of the turning points in the history of Japan.　Various cultural properties and appearance of the Castle Town are reminiscent of those times and people in Matsushiro inherit the traditions.

Matsushiro has a unique background that you can learn the real Japanese history within. What is lovely about Matsushiro is not only its prestigious history but also inherited traditional culture and the spirit of people nurtured by rich nature. You can touch the heart of Matsushiro if you go take a little walk through the town that time gose by slowly.
Rokumonsen
 
 Japanese think there is a big river between this world and the heaven and they need to pay 6 coins to the boat man to go across that river. The family emblem of Sanada family is called "Rokumonsen" which is formed by two lines of three coins. It means the warriors were always ready to risk their lives in battles, that is the Samurai spirit of the Sanada family.
Streets and Ｈouses of Matsushiro
The Matsushiro remains almost as same as the town planning of the Edo era. Because the main spots are close each other, you can walk around and visit easy to the historical buildings such as gates or walls of the samurai houses in the castle town and trees planted in the gardens with the taste of the Edo era.
Nature and Nurture
 
 Matsushiro is surrounded by the Chikuma River at the north side and mountains at three directions. The mountains are there like objects of the faith and the romance of the age of Warring States period. River and the water from the mountains are the important elements in forming a castle town.
 
 Trees color the seasons, and the rich nature has been blessing the lives of people from the top of the everlasting mountains.
